Me Kyeoung Lee’s Charming Paintings Of South Korean Convenience Stores

Me Kyeoung Lee is an artist who has spent the last two decades documenting the tiny convenience stores and corner shops that dot the streets of South Korea. She recalls a happy childhood when these stores were commonplace: “There were not many things to see and play like these days, but there was a time when I was happy to have a coin in my hands and run to a shop and hang out with friends gathered in front of it.”

Me Kyeoung Lee picks out every tiny detail you can imagine – from the signage and products on display in each window to little bicycles leaning against their fronts.
