The Swedish furniture giant gives a modern twist to food-and-drink themed artworks by Edward Hopper, Pierre-Auguste Renoir and Van Gogh. Classic artworks by a trio of famous painters have been recreated by IKEA using their own flat-pack furniture. IKEA recreates famous paintings
The photos, which were shot by photographer Tim Cole, reference the trio’s most famously foodie paintings, among them Hopper’s Nighthawks, Renoir’s Luncheon of the Boating Party and Van Gogh’s The Potato Eaters. Although no actual painting was done, the Swedish retailer says the context and composition remain intact.
A spokesperson for IKEA said: ‘We wanted to celebrate every meal as a special occasion and the original paintings, despite all having different meanings and styles, all capture this perfectly.
