Boy Trips in Museum & Punches a Hole Through a Million Dollar Painting

Watch as a 12-year-old boy holding a drink stumbles just a tad too close to a 17th century painting at a museum in Taiwan. The 12-year-old left a fist-size tear on “Flowers”, a 17-century oil on canvas by Italian master Paolo Porpora. Exhibition curator Andrea Rossi was “shocked” but said the boy was not to be blamed.

The organizers will claim restoration costs on their insurance. Taiwan’s Central News Agency said a Taiwanese art restorer spent 12 hours repairing the artwork, which is now back on display at the “Face of Leonardo, Images of a Genius” exhibition.
